Currituck Beach Light Station On December 1, 1875 the beacon of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse was first lit. The lighthouse entrance is 20 miles from the junction, on the left, just beyond the Currituck Heritage Park sign.
Bodie Island Light Station The striking black and white striped Bodie Island Lighthouse rises 165 feet to illuminate the coast between Cape Hatteras and Currituck Beach. A visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the remainder of the year. The grounds around the lighthouse are accessible during daylight hours. Cape Lookout Lighthouse The first Cape Lookout Lighthouse with a 96 foot high tower was completed in 1812 but was simply not tall enough. Cape Lookout, the most southeastern island in the chain of islands comprising the Outer Banks. Cape Lookout Lighthouse is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to November. The tower is open for climbing from mid-May to mid-September. Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse Is a replica of the screwpile lighthouses that helped mariners navigate the complex system of waterways. The current replica is actually the fourth to carry the name of Roanoke Marshes, as three different structures were used at the station in Croatan Sound. Hours Fees Info 252-475-1750 Directions: From Nags Head, take Highway 64 west over Roanoke Sound and turn right into Manteo. Turn right on Agona Street and follow it to its end where you will find the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. There is limited parking on the street. A short boardwalk leads to the lighthouse.
